For last-minute lovers
It may be too late for a Hallmark moment by snail mail, but not
to worry. Just send a free e-card. Several sites offer cards with
a personalized message, music and a graphic, sometimes animated.
Customize any of more than 670 valentines at
egreetings.com.
Amazon.com has just nine valentines, but you can dub in your
own voice. Check out still more cards at
bluemountain.com
and
electronicpostcards.com. If these sites don't
help, there's always construction paper and crayons.
Engage in safe
chats
Looking for love on the Internet doesn't have to be any riskier than
meeting someone in a bar, says psychiatrist Esther Gwinnell, M.D.,
author of Online Seductions: Falling in Love with Strangers on the
Internet. But the Web does pose a special challenge. "Love is blind,"
says Gwinnell. "The Internet is blind, deaf and dumb." Some ways to
stay safe:
Never give out personal info (last name, phone number, address
or workplace).
Don't phone anyone. They may have caller ID that reveals your phone
number.
If you decide to meet, do it in a busy public place.
Dating.about.com has more chat-room dos and don'ts.
My Web: Fabio
Fabio, 38, is a one-man love machine. His chiseled jaw and torso have
launched 1,000 romance novels, totaling 100 million books. He's not
just a cover boy: He's also written eight romance novels of his own.
And he's the star voice of Thor: God of Thunder, an animated feature
due next year. Next up, he'll be the spokesman for
electricfood.com,
a specialty-food site set to debut in June. Until then, he tells us,
his favorite Web sites are ...
Yahoo.com This search engine is "a great tool for
traveling the Internet. I like it so much, I bought stock."
krellonline.com "I love hi-fi equipment, and they
make the best stereo and video equipment in the world."
tasteyoulove.com "Fun and romantic." Yes, he's
a spokesman for its sponsor, I Can't Believe It's Not Butter! But,
hey, where else can you find a complete "Fabiography"?
