"Enterprise," behind the scenes
Lt. Malcolm Reed (Dominic Keating), a weapons strategist, mans his post on the bridge. His uniform boasts two specially designed "pips" to denote his rank. "They're like Army bars," Blackman says.

Ensign Travis Mayweather (Anthony Montgomery), who pilots the ship, and Capt. Jonathan Archer (Scott Bakula) talk in the situation room, which is located in the rear of the bridge. Both character's suits are accented with gold piping to connote that they are in command positions. Characters wearing teal stripes are in science and medical fields. Burgundy represents those dealing with security or tactical concerns.
Charles "Trip" Tucker III (Connor Trinneer) joins Mayweather and Archer in the strategy room. All three characters have their suits slightly unzipped. Underneath they wear black shirts. "They'd only keep the suits zipped all the way if it was a formal occasion," Blackman explains. "The suits are made so that they're easy to get into and out of. We want them to looked lived in."
