Health with Dr. Tedd Mitchell

Dr. Tedd Mitchell sought input from professional women that he works with at the Cooper Clinic in Dallas. Their suggestions guided much of his advice on women's health, and he wishes to acknowledge them.

Angelena Ho, M.D.
Dr. Ho Dr. Ho, a Cooper Clinic staff physician, specializes in radiology. She graduated from the University of Singapore Medical School with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree in 1976. Her medical certifications include: the American Board of Radiology; the Fellowship of The Royal College of Radiologists, London, England; Diploma of Medical Radio-Diagnosis, London, England; and the Educational Commission of Foreign Medical Graduates. Dr. Ho's areas of special medical interest include mammography and preventive imaging with the EBT scan (ultrafast CT).

Michele A. Kettles, M.D., M.S.P.H.
Dr. Kettles is a staff physician and specialist in preventive medicine. She received a B.A. in English from Washington and Jefferson College and a medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990. She completed her internal medicine internship at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. Dr. Kettles completed her residency and earned a M.S.P.H. degree from the University of Kentucky. She is certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. Her military experience includes serving as the Medical Department Head in the U.S. Navy on the USS Canopus in King's Bay, Ga., and serving as the director of clinical services at the Branch Medical Clinic at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Fla. Dr. Kettles has a special medical interest in women's health, travel medicine, health behavior, and health education.

Nina B. Radford, M.D.
Dr. Radford Dr. Radford is a Cooper Clinic cardiologist. She graduated from Cornell University with a B.A. in biology and received her medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1986. She completed her internal medicine internship and residency and a clinical and research fellowship in cardiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School Affiliated Hospitals. Dr. Radford completed a fellowship at the American Heart Association Bugher Foundation Centers for Molecular Biology in the Cardiovascular System. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and has a subspecialty certification in cardiovascular disease from the American Board of Internal Medicine. She is also certified by the American Society of Hypertension as a specialist in hypertension. Dr. Radford's medical interests include echocardiography, cardiovascular wellness in women, and clinical cardiovascular research.

Gretchen F. Toler, M.D.
Dr. Toler Dr. Toler is a staff physician and specialist in internal and preventive medicine. She earned a B.S. in biology at Texas Christian University and received her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1984. She completed an internal medicine internship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and internal medicine residency at the Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with added qualifications in geriatric medicine. Dr. Toler's medical interests include preventive medicine, geriatrics, mood disorders, and women's health.

Janet Tornelli-Mitchell, M.D.
Dr. Tornelli Dr. Tornelli is a staff physician specializing in internal medicine. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in microbiology. She earned her medical degree (1988) and completed her internal medicine internship and residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Dr. Tornelli is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a certified medical review officer. In 1997, she received a six-year appointment to the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners. Her areas of special medical interest include cardiovascular risk modification, osteoporosis, and women's health.

Connie Tyne, L.M.S.W.
Connie Tyne, L.M.S.W. is the Executive Director of the Cooper Wellness Program. As a licensed psychotherapist, she is responsible for the lifestyle enhancing behavior modification program at the Cooper Aerobics Center. She teaches workshops on stress management, goal setting, balance, and aging well.

Georgia Kostas, M.P.H., R.D., L.D.
As Director of Nutrition at the Cooper Clinic, a division of The Cooper Aerobics Center in Dallas, Kostas founded the nutrition program for the clinic in 1979. Kostas designs nutrition programs for individuals, works with corporations, and teaches nutrition and weight loss. She is a clinical nutritionist and registered and licensed dietitian, and specializes in preventive and cardiovascular medicine, weight control, wellness and sports nutrition. She is also a public speaker, author and consultant to numerous organizations. Kostas' latest book is The Cooper Clinic Solution to The Diet Revolution: Step up to The Plate! (March 15, 2001), a completely updated version of her book, The Balancing Act Nutrition & Weight Guide. Additionally, Kostas has penned The Guilt-Free Comfort Food Cookbook, What's Cooking at the Cooper Clinic, chapters of nutrition in books by Kenneth H. Cooper, M.D., M.P.H. ("The Aerobics Program for Total Well-Being", "Controlling Cholesterol" and "Overcoming Hypertension") and numerous patient education booklets. Kostas is the American Dietetic Association's liaison to the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports and serves on the American Cancer Society's Nutrition and Fitness Committee, Dallas Chapter. Kostas earned a B.A. in Biology from Rice University, a Master of Public Health in Nutrition from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and Residency in dietetics from Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans.
