What ever happened to singer Shania Twain? She was in the news often a few years ago, and then suddenly she disappeared.
Samantha Smith, Bloomsburg, Pa.
After her two-year non-stop tour to promote her "Come on Over" CD, Twain, 36, retreated with her husband and producer, Mutt Lange, to their home in Geneva. She certainly found the right place to avoid the prying eyes of the paparazzi while she was carrying her son, Eja (pronounced Asia), who was born Aug. 12. I saw not one picture of that famously flat abdomen pregnant. Twain has been learning French -- the better to get around Geneva -- as well as writing and recording a new album, which probably will be released next spring.
Atlanta Braves rookie Mark DeRosa is talented, intelligent and handsome. Is he serious about anyone?
Lori Fidler, White Plains, N.Y.
Yes, a model named Heidi Miller. His career is looking serious, too. DeRosa, 26, a former Ivy League quarterback, helped keep the Braves in the playoff race by filling in for injured shortstop Rafael Furcal. As a result, he will vie for a starting middle infield position in 2002. 'He's done everything you could ask," says Braves GM John Schuerholz. He's that kind of guy. While studying at the University of Pennsylvania's prestigious Wharton School, DeRosa never missed a class. 'I felt obligated," he says. 'My parents made me a commitment, and that's the least I could do."
Which Hollywood family is actor Miguel Ferrer from? And what will he be in next?
Susan Frasier, Chicago
Look for Ferrer in "Crossing Jordan", NBC's new drama featuring former "Law & Order" actress Jill Hennessy, whom he describes as 'pleasant, kind and bawdy -- just a dream." Ferrer, 46, grew up in Beverly Hills with his famous parents, actor Jose Ferrer and singer Rosemary Clooney. Their social set included folks such as Dean Martin and Lucille Ball. 'They were just our parents' friends," he says. 'I had no idea who they were until I was older." Married and a dad to two sons, Ferrer had been looking for a good TV show. 'I want to work in the city in which my kids go to school so I can see them at least once a day. Boys, especially, need their dad around."

For every actor who becomes a Tom Cruise, there are hundreds who don't. Bruce Campbell, best known for the "Evil Dead" cult movie trilogy, is one, and his new memoir, "If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor", is a funny reality check for aspiring thespians. 'I was tired of seeing the glossed-over, Entertainment Tonight coverage of the film business and wanted to show the nuts and bolts," says Campbell, who tells his own story in the book that has risen to the top 20 on several best-seller lists. It helped that he met award-winning director Sam Raimi in high school. 'We figured, if you couldn't get any dates, why not make movies?" They're playing in the big leagues now. Campbell, 43, can boast numerous notable jobs, including the upcoming "Spider-Man", which Raimi is directing, and "The Majestic" with Jim Carrey, due in December.
