Dating don'ts!
From the hosts of the new show "Rendez-View."
GREG PROOPS' DATING ADVICE
1. DON'T SAY WHO YOUR DREAM DATE IS. Let the person you are on a date with think it's them.
2. DON'T BE IMPOLITE. "How old are you? You look 40! How much do you weigh? Do you ever stop eating?" ... are inappropriate.
3. DO NOT DIVULGE YOUR ENTIRE PERSONAL HISTORY. Remember to save something for the second date.
4. DO NOT TALK ABOUT SEX ALL NIGHT.
5. DO NOT BE YOURSELF. Be a slightly funnier, better, more suave version of
yourself. There is plenty of time for the real you if you start a relationship.
6. DO NOT DO ALL THE TALKING. Listening means listening, not waiting for your turn to blather.
7. MOSTLY, DON'T FREAK OUT -- IT WILL BE OVER SOON.
ELLEN LADOWSKY'S DATING ADVICE
|
1. DON'T DRESS PROVOCATIVELY ... and then complain that he's only interested in you sexually.
2. DON'T GET TOO SERIOUS TOO QUICKLY ... even if he seems to invite it.
Never talk of bridal registries and the patter of little feet is dangerous.
3. DON'T SHOW HIM ALL YOUR CARDS. A compliment or two is fine, but don't go overboard and reveal that you're completely smitten.
Guys actually enjoy having to win your affections. Why ruin their fun?
4. DON'T TALK ABOUT YOUR PAST RELATIONSHIPS. It may make you look like a victim, or worse, it may make your ex look like a victim.
In any case, you look like you're carrying all sorts of emotional baggage that he doesn't want to deal with.
5. DON'T TALK ABOUT YOURSELF ... more than you talk about him.
Think Charlie Rose, draw him out. He'll be flattered and you'll retain that indispensable air of mystery.
6. DON'T TRY TO BE WHAT YOU THINK HE WANTS YOU TO BE. A woman with a personality -- almost any personality -- is far more appealing to a guy than a woman who will betray herself just to please him.
7. DON'T POINT OUT YOUR DATE'S FLAWS ... tempted though you might be.
He's not going to take advice from someone he just met but he will feel compelled to say the nastiest things he can say about you.
8. DON'T ASK HOW HE FEELS ABOUT YOU. It makes you look needy and insecure, and you won't trust the answer anyway because you had to fish for it in the first place. "What went through your mind when you saw me?" Are you having a good time?" and "What are you thinking?" are questions that should never be posed. What playwright asks for reviews while the play's still going on?
9. DON'T HAVE SEX OR ANY FACSIMILE THEREOF. Men tend to put women into one of two categories: a short-term fling or a long-term romance. Easy sex practically guarantees a place in the former. Plus, in the early stages of courtship, sexual tension is what propels a fledgling relationship forward. If you sleep together, the tension will disappear and he'll be less likely to stick around long enough to get to know you (and fall in love.)
10. DON'T CONSUME TOO MUCH ALCOHOL. You may forget the above rules and be forced to act on your own instincts.
