Where does U2 lead singer Bono get his ever-present sunglasses?
Marcus Watts, South San Francisco, Calif.
From various places. The brands he is known to sport are Gucci, Romeo Gigli and Selima Optique, but the shades he favors most are Bulgari blue wrap-arounds with an uppercase B on both temples. All run between $200 and $300. Even the pope admired the rock star's trademark accessory, and President Bush "looked at them quite jealously," Bono joked after a meeting earlier this year.

James King -- a Revlon model with all-American good looks and legs that won't quit -- may be just another pretty face, but she won't let that stand in the way of an acting career. King, born Jamie (James is a stage name) in Omaha, was modeling at 14 and a cover girl at 16. Soon after, she turned to acting and quickly landed roles in movies like last summer's blockbuster "Pearl Harbor" (she was nurse Betty). The transition wasn't as easy as it seems. Along the way, King, 23, developed a heroin habit (not unusual for her set, she says) that she kicked at 19. On the topic of drugs, all she'll say is: "Half the stuff I went through was what my friends were going through. I was just a kid like everybody else, and I'm an adult now." King is now making "Bulletproof Monk" with "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"'s Chow Yun-Fat.
President Bush is often photographed with the family Scottie, Barney. FDR also had a Scottie, Fala. What other dogs have our presidents had?
Lane Sauser, Auburn, Ala.
"If you want a friend in Washington," Harry Truman said, "get a dog." Unlike cats, dogs have warmed presidents' images, from Washington to Clinton and now Bush, reminding us that despite the trappings of office, they're regular guys. Barney, right, was a gift to Laura Bush from EPA chief Christine Todd Whitman. The Bushes also have Spot, daughter of the senior Bushes' springer spaniel Millie, whose autobiography outsold her owner's. More White House dogs:
Richard Nixon's Checkers was a black-and-white cocker Nixon got as a campaign gift.
Lyndon Johnson's beagles made front-page news when LBJ lifted the pair by their ears. He also sang with a third dog, mutt Yuki, even in front of ambassadors.
Warren Harding's Airedale, Laddie Boy, had his own valet and hand-carved chair to sit in during Cabinet meetings.
JFK's Welsh terrier, Charlie, fathered four "pupniks" after mating with Pushinka, a gift from Nikita Khrushchev and daughter of Russian space dog Strelka.
Teddy Roosevelt's pit bull terrier, Pete, tore off the French ambassador's pants during a White House reception.
Who trains Eddie, the smart pooch on NBC's "Frasier"?
Willa Brooks, Somerset, N.J.
Eddie (real name: Moose) is trained by Mathilde de Cagny, who took him in at 2. Now 12, Moose is heading for retirement, so his look-alike son Enzo subs for him on "Frasier". De Cagny swears Moose has no cast favorites, but David Hyde Pierce and Jane Leeves try hardest to charm him. Moose and Enzo will make a TV movie based on Moose's biography, "My Life as a Dog". And his life may go on: Moose's sperm was frozen for future progeny.
Please tell me about up-and-coming singer Rufus Wainwright.
Lillian Fallon, Amsterdam, N.Y.
If you know his music, particularly songs like "One Man Guy", you may have noticed that the openly gay pop artist is a romantic. Yet, he tells us, he enjoys his single status. He wrapped his first national tour last month, and in August, the Montreal native will perform a benefit concert in Muncie, Ind., to help restore the high school James Dean attended in nearby Fairmount. He's a fan of the idolized actor and likes to play America's heartland "so I can hang out with a bunch of farm boys." Later this year he'll begin his third album, but he's in no rush. "Hopefully, I'll finish it before I'm 30," says Wainwright, who turns 29 next month. Wainwright is the only son of '70s folk singers Kate McGarrigle and Loudon Wainwright III.
