The Amanda show continues
The hot teen actress on shopping, the prom and ... wrinkle cream?
Amanda Bynes is not your average kid. By 11, she had her own variety show on Nickelodeon called simply "The Amanda Show". Today, at 17, she appears on the WB sister sitcom "What I Like About You" (Fridays, 8 p.m. ET) with ex-"90210"er Jennie Garth. She's also on the big screen in the new comedy What a Girl Wants, about a carefree girl who heads to England to reunite with the stuffy dad (Colin Firth) she never knew. We recently spoke with her:
What's a typical day like for you?
I'll get to the set at 7 a.m. and do school for four hours; then I head to rehearsal for a couple of hours. Then lunch. After that, we rehearse for a couple more hours and then do a run-through of the scenes. [Work continues] until about 7 o'clock.
Sounds rough! Ever get to just be a teen?
On the weekends. I go to the [mall] and hang out with friends and go to lunch and shop, the movies -- that sort of fun stuff.
What's a big star splurge for you?
Crème de la Mer moisturizing lotion. [It's about $90 an ounce!] It's not like I have many wrinkles anyway, but I thought, why not?
You don't have any wrinkles! Even though you're a star in your own right, do you get starstruck?
Oh, my gosh, without a doubt! I saw Jennifer Aniston applying lip gloss with a little mirror. I was sort of gawking, and my friend had to push me along. That was a starry-eyed moment.
Any big crushes?
I think Justin Timberlake is cute and Colin Farrell is sexy. But I have a boyfriend.
Are you going to your prom?
Yeah, but ... honestly, I'm kind of over it. I think the whole thing is a little overrated.
