Our annual spring travel issue presented our picks of the 10 most beautiful places in America -- among them Jenny Lake in the Grand Tetons, the view from Mount Washington in Pittsburgh, Hawaii's Na Pali Coast and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Along with Holiday Inn, we asked readers which of our choices they thought was the most beautiful. There were more than 100,000 entries, and the exotic Na Pali Coast of Kauai garnered the most votes by far -- more than all the other destinations combined, and more than seven times the number garnered by the runner-up, Arizona's Red Rock Country.
Holiday Inn awarded a family vacation to Diane Chapman of Sunol, Calif., who reads USA WEEKEND Magazine in the Tri-Valley Herald. In addition to the beauty of Kauai's coastline, Diane, her husband, Nick, and kids Denise, 21, and David, 17, enjoyed seeing Waimea Canyon ("the Grand Canyon of Hawaii") and attending a luau. "Kauai is truly one of the most beautiful places on Earth," Diane wrote us, "and we used our time there to see as much of it as we could. Mahalo (which means thank you) from all of us."
