What a (great) waste of time
The Web is good for many things -- especially wasting time. But you need to know exactly where to go. We have just the sites to help you maximize the efficiency of your idling.
What are you waiting for? Time's a-wastin'.

Your first stop, if you want to get carpal tunnel syndrome to render real work impossible, should be virtual-bubblewrap.com. Here, you'll find a cybersheet of plastic bubble wrap packaging that you can giddily pop for hours on end. (The site also links to sites that sell boxes of real bubble wrap, foam and other cushioning products.) In addition to releasing angst, this is a great place to learn bubble wrap technique or bubble wrap etiquette -- the first rule being "Don't pop someone else's bubble wrap without permission."
If busting bubbles gives you the confidence to pop moving objects, try the adorable, but simple, games at orisinal.com. Click on one of the more than 50 boxes on the homepage. In games like "Cranky Crabs," you can walk along the beach as a little boy in swim trunks, zapping scuttling crabs with your yo-yo. Or, for optimal clicking amusement, check out "Hold the Rope," where you give power to five men trying to restrain a rhinoceros by clicking on them repeatedly.
Once you've clicked your way out of a job, commiserate with Todd at oddtodd.com, a site by a laid-off slacker with a talent for making funny cartoons about his life. There are word games (in "Word Up," you click on phrases that are read out loud to complete a sentence) and a "Psychic Teevee" for any yes/no question you can think of. If you're the gambling type, bet all your cookies on the "Cook-ay Slots."
