Which "Star Wars" character are you?

As the final film hits theaters, we ask celebs for their picks.

By Brian Truitt

A long time ago in a country far, far away, "Alias" star Michael Vartan indulged in his love of "Star Wars." Vartan, 36, who grew up in France, played with his toy X-Wing Fighter, re-creating the adventures of Luke Skywalker. He watched the 1977 George Lucas blockbuster every day one summer. "I knew the lines by heart. After 2 1/2 months, it would be sad if I didn't," he says.

Many kids in the late '70s loved pretending they were "Star Wars" characters. In Vartan's case, it was an imperial stormtrooper. But these days he'd want to be lovable smuggler Han Solo. "He got the girl," says Vartan, who stars opposite Jennifer Lopez in "Monster-in-Law." "He seemed to have more fun than the rest of them."

As "Revenge of the Sith" opens, we asked some hip young celebs which "Star Wars" characters they'd like to be ...

Shannon Lucio (actress, "The O.C."): "I'd like to be R2-D2, because he has such a feisty temperament. I love how he solely communicates through beeps and clicks. Very cute."

Gerard Way (lead singer, My Chemical Romance): "I think Boba Fett's the coolest, but I really like Luke Skywalker. He was my hero."

Jordana Brewster (actress, "D.E.B.S."): "Princess Amidala. I'd get to kiss Hayden Christensen."

Tyler Hilton (actor, "One Tree Hill"): "I'd kind of like to be Han Solo, only because he's the James Bond-ish, rock 'n' roll rebel of the group. He's kind of a rogue, with a motorcycle-riding wanderlust. I just dig his vibe."

Marianela (VJ, Fuse TV): "I gotta say Chewbacca. He's tough on the outside, but deep down he's a teddy bear. And he and I both love getting scratched behind the ears."

Gavin DeGraw (musician): "George Lucas. He's made millions of dollars!"
