What is going on with actor Robert Downey Jr.? Will he marry his producer fiancée soon? Will he be back on TV?
Willa Sargent, Hendersonville, Tenn.

Forget television. Downey, 40, has so many movie projects he barely has time to get married -- but he will, this summer, to producer Susan Levin. He has finished an Edward R. Murrow biopic with and for George Clooney, and by press time he was to have started Nicole Kidman's newest film, Fur, about the life of photographer Diane Arbus. Plus, he has three more movies already done, including a remake of Disney's "The Shaggy Dog."

Jodi Picoult has a new book out, but I hear it's her next one that is getting a lot of attention in the publishing industry.
Fred Moore Lansing, Mich.

Picoult's 13th book, "The Tenth Circle," due next March, will be a genre-bending surprise. She teamed with Dustin Weaver, a graphic novelist, to create a mix of comic book and literature. It will be another fictional page-turner but with a visual twist. Get a peek at the graphics on her Web site, jodipicoult.com.

Rosie O'Donnell, 43, quit daytime talk three years ago to spend time with her family. Lately she's been working again; beginning this Sunday, she's in three episodes of Showtime's "Queer as Folk."

What lured you back to acting?
I always wanted to be an actress like Streisand, without the voice or talent. But that didn't stop me.

You now have four children, 2 to 10. What's your favorite mom task?
For three years, I've picked them up from school every day. A less neurotic mother would allow them to take the bus. [Driving] is when a lot of our intimate moments are.

Do you miss your talk show?
I miss the staff, the real people. Being able to have a public voice about things I'm passionate about.

Are you still in touch with celeb friends?
Madonna and I see each other, talk on the phone, e-mail.

Ever wish you'd come out sooner?
Do I wish I'd had that courage, to be the one to break down doors and come out? Sure. But I didn't want it to be about me. [She came out in 2002 to show support for gay foster parents trying to adopt in Florida.]

Are the crimes that Patricia Arquette solves as Allison DuBois on NBC's "Medium" based on cases that the real DuBois has been involved in?
Vicki Lucas, Mansfield, Ohio

Only the pilot was based on the life of DuBois, a Phoenix research medium who says she can speak to dead people. But the made-up stuff must be just as compelling: Medium has been averaging about 14 million viewers and got early notice that NBC wants it back for next year.

Kate Walsh has done a lot of comedy (you may know her best as one of Drew Carey's TV girlfriends), so it makes sense that she's in "Kicking & Screaming," the newest Will Ferrell movie, and has this advice for writers: "A lady can be just as funny as a guy." Walsh, 37, says female humor is no different from male, but writers write for men: "They either make you the mom or the straight man." She does like drama, especially HBO's "dark and edgy" "Deadwood." Good thing: We'll see her in "Grey's Anatomy" in early fall.

What sort of relationship do Donald and Kiefer Sutherland have?
Ann Garrison Warren, Mich.

Distant, at least in mileage. Kiefer, 38, lives in L.A., and Dad, 69, is in Toronto, so it's not like they can pop in on each other. His parents divorced, and Kiefer lived with his mom, but we're told he now has a "lovely relationship" with his dad. This summer Kiefer films a thriller, "The Sentinel," in Toronto. Maybe they'll catch up.

Kiefer spends time with Dad when possible.

Everybody knows Paris Hilton spends loads of money on herself. Has she ever given any to charity?
Ashlyn Muller, Littleton, Colo.

"I host events for multiple sclerosis, breast cancer, AIDS, children who are starving, and animals," says Hilton, 24. "Or [I'll] give money. My great-grandfather [Conrad Hilton] gave a lot of money to charity, and I've grown up with that tradition."
