DVD Insider

Revenge is sweet
Star Wars-inspired off-Broadway actor sizes up "Episode III."

The plot: "Revenge of the Sith," the last of director George Lucas' prequels, finally explains how Jedi Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) succumbs to the dark side.

"Episode III" will be available on DVD Tuesday.

INSIDER'S CREDENTIALS: By the time he was 11, Charles Ross reckons he'd seen the original "Star Wars" 400 times. Now, the Canadian actor, 31, is starring in an off-Broadway hit, "One-Man Star Wars Trilogy," in which he hilariously retells the original three movies in one hour.

Overview: "Of the new 'Star Wars' films, this one is the strongest. It recaptured the darkness in 'The Empire Strikes Back,' and you see Hayden go from matinee idol to barbecue face."

Scene 7: Happy Reunions -- After being kidnapped, Chancellor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) returns to the republic's capital. Among those welcoming him is Jar Jar Binks, a cutesy talking creature reviled by hard-core fans.

"Did you notice Jar Jar has only one line? But I can see why Lucas put him in 'Episode I.' He had to get a new generation of kids interested in 'Star Wars.'"

Scene 43: Immolation -- Obi-Wan reluctantly fights his apprentice, Anakin.

"These films are about the power of family. The strongest these characters are is when they're working together. Anakin's children, Luke and Leia, eventually find each other [in 'Episode IV'] and then band together with Han Solo, Chewbacca and Obi-Wan. That's when they defeat evil."

Deleted scene: Seeds of Rebellion -- A group of senators discusses how to save the republic. Lucas' daughter, Katie, plays the blue-skinned Chi Eekway.

"For some reason, Lucas cut this scene. It's not like his daughter ruined it. She has one lame little line. Maybe she didn't want to be in the movie, but her dad asked. It's possible his kids aren't 'Star Wars' nuts."
