In her "Sharon Osbourne Extreme: My Autobiography," out in the States last month, the woman in charge of Ozzy's life proves she's no ordinary rock-star wife. And she tells us the hardest part to write was about the marriage. "I didn't want people to think badly of him," she says. Despite his reported substance abuse, when they were apart, "I would pine for him. Those feelings were stronger than any actions against me." Encouraged by her book's success, says she wants to write a music industry tell-all.
When did Neal McDonough of "Boomtown and Medical Investigation" become a dad? Also, do you know anything about Neal's mom, Kitty?
Linda Malpica, San Jacinto, Calif.
"[She] knew a lot of people and is missed by so many," says McDonough of his mom, who died in a car accident 13 years ago. His parents ran a mom-and-pop hotel on Cape Cod. McDonough, 40, says he wishes Mom could see him now. He made seven films in 18 months, including Clint Eastwood's "Flags of Our Fathers." His son, Morgan, with wife Ruvé Robertson, turns 1 this weekend; a second baby is due in late spring, so he'd like another TV show. "I don't want my kids bouncing around," he says.
Does actress Brooke Shields, who had a second baby last spring, plan on having any more children?
Gene Whitworth, Walls, Miss.
We couldn't get Shields, 41, to tell us what she's thinking now. Perhaps it's still a little too soon to ask. We do know, though, that before she had second daughter Grier Hammond Henchy last April, Shields told USA WEEKEND she wanted to have more children -- plural. Her other daughter, Rowan, is now 3.
I have learned so much from watching "Dog Whisperer" Cesar Millan on TV. How did he start out?
Billie Diekman, Wymore, Neb.
From his grandfather's ranch in Mexico to his current California Dog Psychology Center, Millan, 37, says he honed his "instinctual" skill in the real world. The National Geographic Channel star and author dreams of opening centers in every state. "I want to teach people to do what I do," says the married dad of two boys. His philosophy of exercise, discipline and affection has turned around the most difficult dogs. At home, though, his wife leads the pack. "I can make 50 dogs follow me, but I can't get my wife to follow me," he says. "So I surrender."

Steve Holy, whose catchy single "Brand New Girlfriend" hit No. 1 on Billboard's country chart last September, has a new ballad, Come On Rain, out now. Dallas-born Holy, 34, the baby in a brood of eight, says he might have ended up in the family's foundation drilling business if music hadn't been "a burning desire." Success is sweet. And playing to fans is fun. "Now, the show is in the crowd," he says.
Holy says, "My career is my brand-new girlfriend."

John Stamos would never say this himself, so I will: He is the new George Clooney, adding a sexy presence to "ER" this season. He claims he just rolls out of bed and shows up for his scenes: no makeup, no hair care, no shaving. I guess you don't need all that pretty-boy stuff playing an "old" Gulf War vet. "He's closer to me than Jake," says Stamos, 43, referring with slight disdain to his previous TV character, the slick PR guy of "Jake in Progress." That was a last-season sitcom that ABC didn't give a fair shake. Stamos tells me he has had offers to be on "ER" since Clooney left in 1999, but "I wasn't ready then." He sure is now.

The best part of any holiday is the food, Paula Deen says. In her new cookbook, "Paula Deen Celebrates!," she finds reasons to mark anything, even Elvis' birthday (Jan. 8). Deen, 59, says her coconut cake best defines her. "I love the way it feels in my mouth, and the coconut kind of looks like my hair." She has "Paula's Party" on the Food Network and a memoir coming, but Deen may be most excited about her new grandson, born in August. "His name is Jack Deen," she says, "and I already have his [future] set of cookware hanging on my pot rack."
Tom Cruise is such an advocate of Scientology.I wonder if the religion endorses cohabitation and unwed parenthood.
Rosalee Roloff, Clintonville, Wis.
Scientology has eight "dynamics," and the second, after self, is the family dynamic. It's concerned with sexual activity and procreation, but it doesn't address living together or unwed parenthood. Scientologists do, however, believe in marriage and family.
