Wendie Malick tells me she wants to work until the day she dies. She may well, because Malick, 56, of "Frasier" and "Just Shoot Me" fame, has no trouble getting a job. The new ABC sitcom "Big Day" is just her latest. In it, she's the mother of a bride who sees her daughter's wedding "as a litmus test for her entire life," Malick explains, "the chance to show the world she's the perfect wife and mother." Malick is a little more free-spirited than that, although her "Big Day" character, Jane, reflects Malick's very individual sense of style. She even brings in pieces of her own jewelry to make Jane "a little Bohemian." When I asked Malick about her own "Big Day," I learn that she has had two weddings: "The first was 60 people in a brownstone in New York. And for the second -- we climbed a mountain in Sedona with 10 friends."

Brian Boitano has never met the "South Park" creators who wrote the song "What Would Brian Boitano Do?" as a parody of the saying, "What would Jesus do?" But he knows the song has given him a wider audience because it made him "cool" with a generation that didn't see him win an Olympic gold medal in 1988. It also helps to increase the male audience for his New Year's Day "Skating Spectacular." This year, Boitano's 10th on NBC, the spectacular is designed to showcase the musical guest Celtic Woman. "It's a world theme, and I like the vibe of their sound," he says. Boitano, 43, saw his first ice show at 7. "I said to my mom, 'This is what I want to do.' "
Tell me about Christopher Meloni, who plays Elliot Stabler on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." Where is he from? Married? Children?
Deb Lonczynski, Hanover, Pa.
He is married with two small kids, daughter Sophia, 5, and son Dante, 3. He is a Washington, D.C., native, but Meloni, 45, tells us New York is where his "soul resides." He says his eighth season on "SVU" is "a strange place to be [because I'm probably] closer to the end than the beginning." Will he look for another series when "L&O" is over? "I don't think on network TV," he says. "Maybe an FX show. Something edgier. I'm a fan of "The Shield," "Rescue Me." They give more room for offbeat stuff. I'm comfortable in [that] world."
Are Mary-Louise Parker and Martin Donovan an item? The two have appeared in movies together ("Saved!" and "Pipe Dream"), and they were a couple on Showtime's "Weeds."
Susan Kinner, Kettering, Ohio
Sometimes it's really just acting. They are friends and enjoy working together. But Parker, 42, is a single mom to son William, who turns 3 on Jan. 7. Donovan, 49, has been married 22 years and has two children.
Is Prince Edward's daughter, who was born prematurely, healthy? Since her birth, I haven't seen a photo or heard anything about her.
Sandy De May, Portsmouth, R.I.
Little Lady Louise Windsor, who turned 3 last month, is fine. She's not seen because her parents, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, decided that she would be shielded from the media; they rarely bring her to public engagements. They also decided not to give Louise a "Her Royal Highness" designation. That's why she is called Lady and not Princess.
