RU ready to meet someone F2F RN? NP!*

By Dennie Hughes

Lora Krulak, a 30-something wellness consultant from New York City, is always on the go. Although this single certainly has taken advantage of dating websites, not having an office job means that days go by before she logs on to respond to possible suitors online.

"What I need is a way to chat during daily downtime, say, like when I'm stuck in traffic," she says.

Always meet in a public spot, and avoid giving out addresses of locations that you frequent.

Well, Lora, the answer may be in the palm of your hand. Cellphone dating is cyber-dating's newest wrinkle. Match.com now provides a mobile service that makes its entire site phone-accessible.

MeetMoi.com actually helps users find nearby matches in real time. All you have to do is text-message a street address, ZIP code or the name of a place to MeetMoi.com and you'll receive profiles of people in that area. Great idea? Sure, if you do it right (see below). It eliminates any excuses for "not having time" to meet someone. And because you have to be a registered member to access these services, your personal contact info is secure (you have to log in to send or receive messages).

Tips for smart cellphone dating

-- Go public, stay private: Always meet in a public spot, and avoid giving out addresses of locations that you frequent. You don't want to keep running into someone who wasn't a great match.

-- Tell a friend: Someone should always know what time your date is and when you'll call with the play-by-play.

-- K.I.S.S.: Keep it short and simple. If you plan the date to be an hour, you won't have to scramble for an excuse to end your suffering. And if the date is good? You leave 'em wanting more!

* F2F RN? NP! Translation: "Are you ready to meet someone face to face right now? No problem!"
