Easy mower maintenance

Most of us don't mind going to the local equipment dealer to buy a shiny new riding mower. But when it comes to changing fuel filters and spark plugs, we'd rather have the pros come to us. That's why John Deere has beefed up its nationwide Ready to Mow program with more than 800 trucks that make house calls.

Appointments can be made at readytomow.com or with local dealers, who set prices. When the snazzy Ready to Mow truck pulls into your driveway, your mower is loaded onto the truck for all maintenance and repair work -- from sharpening blades to attaching a snowblower.

Sears also offers its own service-on-wheels for brand-name equipment through 800-4-MY-HOME. Prices vary nationwide, but there's no cost if the product is covered under warranty.
