In homage to the year's biggest character in the year's hottest movie, we invite you to thrill your trick-or-treaters this Halloween with a jack-o'-lantern of The Joker. We've made it easy to carve Batman's nemesis; simply download "The Joker" stencil and print it out on 8 1/2-by-11-inch paper. We used a pumpkin about 11 inches tall.
Some advice: First, outline and cut the lid, then scrape out the pumpkin. Use pushpins (not tape) to attach the stencil, and pleat the paper as needed so it lies flat. Use the tools in a pumpkin-carving kit, available at craft stores, to finish the carving: The tracing wheel lets you follow the outlines on the stencil. Then remove the stencil and start sawing.
Our Joker stencil is about midway between easy and challenging. When you're done, insert a candle, replace the lid and enjoy!
