Rethinking the diary
The Nintendo DS now has games that act as digital journals.

As long as there have been tween girls, there have been secrets. So an upgrade from the traditional lock-and-key diary to the password-protected Nintendo DS title "My Secret World by Imagine" (ubi.com, $29.99) is only natural. After all, there are just some things only your BFF should know.
"My Secret World" is an electronic diary that uses a wireless connection so girls can share private thoughts and exchange the results of the personality quiz. Diary owners can make their journals private, too.
Using the stylus (electronic pen), girls can track their moods, like "chill" or "heartbroken," and customize their journals like a scrapbook from a menu of backgrounds, photos and stickers.
Konami's "Diary Girl" (konami.com, $29.99), also for the DS and password-protected, has a daily calendar, contact list and a Wi-Fi voice-chat function so friends can have real-time talks without picking up the phone.
Both "My Secret World" and "Diary Girl" let you customize your avatar and chronicle the large and small events of the day. But instead of using a pencil with a heart-shaped eraser, girls can confide with a stylus.
