Spring break for adults

5 inns for an affordable fling

In these difficult times, you probably need a break. If you're looking for something special, why not try a bed-and-breakfast? Seek accommodations that emphasize romance; you'll be unlikely to find children there. Also, a weekend for two at these inns won't break the bank. (Rates are subject to change.)

Arkansas: The 14-room Lookout Point Lakeside Inn, on Lake Hamilton, offers guests plenty of water activities and rates starting at $157 per night.

California: In the heart of wine country, you'll find the 10-room Candlelight Inn in Napa, which serves a gourmet three-course breakfast prepared by the inn's chef. Rates start at $169 per night.

Vermont: The White Rocks Inn is a Greek Revival farmhouse in Wallingford with five rooms and two cottages, starting at $139.

Virginia: Dramatic river and mountain views are the hallmarks of the seven guest rooms of the Inn at Riverbend in Pearisburg, where the rates start at $139.

Utah: An old stone schoolhouse is the setting for the Washington School Inn in Park City, with 15 rooms at $140 and up.
