How to Twitter like the best
Everyone is talking about Twitter, the free micro-blogging service that lets you talk in 140-character bursts about anything with anyone. It's loved by millions, including celebrities, politicians and me (Twitter.com/ToureX). But how can you get the most out of Twitter? How can you be compelling and get lots of followers? Some tips:
Provoke! Don't talk about what you're actually doing. That's boring. Share your thoughts on culture, politics, life -- say things that people who don't know you might care about. Say something provocative, and people will be motivated to respond in agreement or disagreement. Even harmless provocation ("30 Rock" is the best show on TV!) is perfect.
Converse. Respond to those who reply to you. But do so in a way that others who aren't already in the conversation can follow. Use complete sentences that give everyone the chance to comprehend.
Play nice. Make your point, but don't be rude or mean, even to people who are rude or mean to you. You may be arguing with one person, but many others are quietly watching. Being the bigger person always pays dividends.
