I watch reruns of the former CBS military drama "JAG." What are the main cast members doing now?
M.C. Smith, Berlin, Conn.

David James Elliott, 48, who starred on "JAG" for 10 seasons with Catherine Bell (who's now on Lifetime's "Army Wives"), laughs when we tell him readers regularly ask about his life: "Tell them David James Elliott needs a job so he can stop being the family chauffeur." Actually, he has plenty of work, such as last month's action mini-series "Impact" on ABC and NBC's "The Storm" coming July 26 and Aug. 2. He's also developing a new TV series and tells us the hard part "is to find the right people." Meanwhile, he's spending more time with daughter Stephanie, 16, son Wyatt, 6, and his wife, actress Nanci Chambers.

I loved John Goodman on the old sitcom "Roseanne." What is he doing these days? Will we see him in a movie anytime soon?
Esther Luna, Fontana, Calif.

Goodman, 57, likes doing movies, but he has learned to be selective. "I can never tell what's going to be good or bad, but if it doesn't feel right and if I really don't think I can do it, I'd rather not," he tells us from his home in New Orleans, where he was on a quick break from Broadway's "Waiting for Godot" to attend his daughter's high school graduation. Godot, which closes Sunday night, is his third Broadway role, but he says it's different this time: "I feel like I belong."

Every week there seems to be yet another rumor about Jon and Kate Gosselin of TLC's reality show "Jon & Kate Plus 8.`" What's true?
Sherri McFadden, Salem, Ore.

At press time, the couple were separated, and Kate had filed for divorce. Of course, both parents said they want nothing but the best for the eight children, but there was no public talk of trying to keep the marriage together. In fact, both Gosselins have been milking their 15 minutes of fame and airing their dirty laundry for months, which can't be good for the kids. The series, which is filmed a few weeks ahead of airtime, is expected to continue, and show reps tell us the well-being of the stars is their top priority, but inexplicably no one seems to think that ending the show would be the best thing for this family.

Taking the lead in an off-Broadway musical while working on a daytime soap makes for a heavy workload. But "Guiding Light"'s Robert Newman says the play "Sessions" was a necessary "distraction" from facing the September end of the 72-year-old show -- and his own 28-year run on it. "I was also looking to figure out what's next on the agenda," says Newman, 51, who has made peace with CBS' cancellation but laments the loss. "These long-term story lines can't happen anywhere else," he says. His two kids have their own ideas for his post-soap career. "They want me to be on 'Lost,' 'The Office' -- something super-cool."

Frederick Weller from USA Network's "In Plain Sight" is the best new sidekick since Tonto. What's his story?
Donald W. Crouch, Minnetonka, Minn.

The son of two lawyers, Weller, 40, says it was his "super-cool somewhat older cousin," actor Peter Weller ("RoboCop"), who influenced his career choice: "Just the fact that he was successful paved the way." His long friendship with co-star Mary McCormack makes their TV chemistry easy. Interestingly, before we could share your Tonto reference, Weller tells us, "I watch a lot of 'Lone Ranger.' I study Tonto very closely." He likes that his U.S. Marshal Marshall Mann is "dangerous and dorky."

Autumn Reeser is loving her upcoming stint on one of cable's most popular series, HBO's "Entourage." The sixth season premieres Sunday, and Reeser plays a ruthless junior agent opposite Emmy winner Jeremy Piven. "To walk into one of your favorite shows is kind of a trip," Reeser, 28, says. Some actresses might not be comfortable around the male-heavy atmosphere of Vincent Chase's posse, but it's nothing new for Reeser. "I just shot the prequel to "Smokin' Aces," and all of my scenes were just with men."
