Jungle Junction
Weekdays starting Oct. 5, 10 a.m., Disney Channel
What it's about: Menageries of animals that travel on wheels (yes, wheels) in place of feet explore the jungle and teach respect for the environment.
Why kids will love it
Fun animals (like a pink pig scooter and a "hippobus") in exotic locales travel at high speeds.
Parental warning
Your kids may ask you to turn down the AC and trade in the SUV for a compact. Kiddie tough love.
Dinosaur Train
Weekdays, check local listings for times, PBS Kids
What it's about
A young T. rex named Buddy goes on adventures with his adoptive family of pteranodons in this CGI series from Lisa Henson (daughter of Jim).
Why kids will love it
It combines two things guaranteed to fascinate this age group: dinosaurs and trains.
Parental warning
You may have to brush up on your knowledge of the Mesozoic Era.

What could be more fun than seeing penguins living in a family's freezer and the mayhem that ensues when an elephant washes the car or a kangaroo fixes your hair?
Parental warning
You'll have to explain to them -- again -- why they can't have an elephant, penguin, kangaroo or giraffe as a pet.
Fanboy and Chum Chum

What it's about
A comic book-loving tyke and his pal use their imaginations to live like their favorite fantasy heroes.
Why kids love it
This CGI series is a slick ode to young fanboys everywhere, making it cool to don tights and capes in public.

May increase your son's desire to actually don that cape and tights when he leaves the house.

Based on the popular young adult books, the series follows a young girl who falls for a vampire with a heart of gold.

If your kids liked "Twilight," they'll die for this show. Bonus: Teen fave Nina Dobrev from the Degrassi series stars.

Expect more mooning over the undead, with requests for a black wardrobe and moody makeup to match.
