Theme parks are a SCREAM!
At many theme parks this fall, you don't have to ride the tallest roller coaster for a scream. Just taking a stroll around the park may put you face to face with monsters of all shapes and sizes. Here are a few theme-park scarefests to check out:
Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, Va. The 11th annual Howl-O-Scream takes over this beautiful theme park every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Nov. 1. Howl-O-Scream has 18 attractions, including shows, haunted mazes and "scare zones," sure to delight kids.
Cedar Point, Sandusky, Ohio Every Friday night, Saturday and Sunday through Nov. 1, the roller coaster capital of the world opens its gates to thrill seekers -- and a few scary clowns and monsters -- for HalloWeekends. If that doesn't make you scream, go test out your fear of heights on the 420-foot Top Thrill Dragster.
Universal Studios Hollywood, Los Angeles Halloween Horror Nights takes its scares straight from the big screen, with haunted maze themes based on the "Halloween" and "Saw" films, a live version of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and many more spooky thrills. It's open select evenings through Oct. 31.
Walt Disney World, Orlando If frightening zombies or evil henchmen aren't your thing, head over to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, which is held on select dates through Nov. 1. Suitable for kids of all ages, this nighttime event features trick-or-treating, a special parade, a fireworks show and Disney characters in Halloween costumes.
