Who's News: Mandy Moore, Miley Cyrus, Chris Noth, birthdays and more!

January 24, 2010

Who's hot in Hollywood

As ABC Family's "Greek" returns on Monday, star Spencer Grammer, 26, is busy this month catching up on the things she missed out on while starting her career, including driving cross-country with friends, taking up photography and diving into European culture overseas. "It's really fulfilling," says the actress and daughter of Kelsey Grammer. "If you want to be a good actor, you have to experience the world and grow as a human being, or you'll end up being really boring to watch." ... Singer/actress Mandy Moore has partnered with the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation and Glaxo-Smith Kline for January's Cervical Health Awareness Month. "I wasn't even sure what the cervix did," Moore, 25, says, but she was moved to action partly when she learned that cervical health could affect a woman's ability to have a successful pregnancy. "I definitely would love to have a family," says Moore, who married rocker Ryan Adams last March. "That was one of the big reasons to get involved."

Is the actor who plays Gus on "Psych" the same person who played Kenny on "The Cosby Show?"

Kay Williams, LaPorte, Ind.

"That's been happening since I was 15 years old," says Dule Hill, who plays Gus. Hill was on Bill Cosby's later CBS show "Cosby," but he didn't play Kenny on the 1980s "Cosby Show." (That was Deon Richmond, who is a friend of Hill's.) The '80s are a big influence on "Psych," says Hill's on-screen partner, James Roday. "We reference more things from the '80s than we do from present day or any other era," he says. "We're semitrapped there, and it's worked well for us."

Chris Noth looks so much like the actor Victor Mature. Are they related?

Val Dworkin, Attleboro, Mass.

Although the actors do bear a striking resemblance, Noth's father was an insurance salesman and not a Hollywood leading man. Mature, who starred in such films as "My Darling Clementine" (1946) and "Samson and Delilah" (1949), died in 1999. Luckily, you still can see his look-alike on screen -- Noth stars on the CBS show "The Good Wife," and he'll reprise his role as Mr. Big in "Sex and the City 2," which arrives May 28.

Why isn't TNT's "HawthoRNe" on TV anymore?

Janice Baumgartner, Cincinnati

Don't worry: The medical drama starring Jada Pinkett Smith is only on hiatus. "HawthoRNe," which also features Michael Vartan and Christina Moore, is set to return to cable this summer. Smith has been busy over her break -- she and her husband, Will Smith, co-hosted the annual Nobel Peace Prize concert last month in Oslo, part of the festivities to honor the recipient of this year's award, President Obama.

Is it true Miley Cyrus has three brothers?

Marie Martin, Chicago

Cyrus does have three brothers: Trace, 20, the lead singer of the band Metro Station; Christopher, 17; and Braison, 15. The well-inked Trace has said he plans to get matching tattoos with Miley when his pop superstar sister turns 18 later this year. She also has two sisters.
