You can see Susan Sarandon, 63, in Peter Jackson's "The Lovely Bones," but the actress, who recently split from partner Tim Robbins after 23 years together, says her big dream "is to work with my kids." Daughter Eva Amurri, 24, is an actress; son Jack, 20, is in school at USC; and Miles, 17, is a musician. Jack "wants to bring his classmates to our house in the country this summer and make films," Sarandon says. ... Kristen Bell went to Bora Bora to film "Couples Retreat" and to Italy for the romantic comedy "When in Rome," out this weekend. But when she takes a real holiday, the actress opts for the "staycation." "I love everything that has to do with a normal routine, like cooking, hiking with my dogs and doing my own laundry," Bell, 29, says. "When you have a game closet that's as full as mine, you never get cabin fever." Her favorite board game? Scrabble.
Who's singing in the new Subaru Outback commercial in which a man loses his sunglasses, then finds them in the hood of his sweatshirt? And what's the song?
Nancy Tolley, Staunton, Va.
The song is Before I Knew, by Canadian singer/songwriter Basia Bulat. Her new album, Heart of My Own, showcases Bulat's wide-ranging influences, from soul music to American folk. Listening to June Carter Cash inspired an interest in learning the autoharp, an instrument Bulat's mother first bought for her at a neighbor's garage sale. "At the time, the autoharp was something strange to me, and now it's a pretty familiar and comfortable thing," Bulat, 25, says.
What are the ethnic backgrounds of the actresses who star on CBS' Numb3rs?
Sandra Wiechert, Lawrence, Kan.
They are a diverse bunch. Navi Rawat (who plays Amita Ramanujan) is of German and East Indian descent, Aya Sumika (Liz Warner) has a Caucasian father and a Japanese-American mother, and Sophina Brown (Nikki Betancourt) is African-American.
Who is Super Dave Osborne's brother? I believe it's Albert Brooks, but my husband thinks his brother is a different celebrity. If I'm right, I'll get $10 and bragging rights.
Andrea Weitzberg, Buffalo Grove, Ill.
Congrats, you're right: Faux stuntman Super Dave Osborne, whose real name is Bob Einstein, 67, is, indeed, the older brother of Hollywood funnyman Albert Brooks, 62. Einstein has been playing the Super Dave character on TV since the early 1970s, and he now stars on Spike TV's weekly series Super Dave's Spike-tacular.
My wife and I have noted a remarkable physical resemblance between Tim DeKay of TV's White Collar and Jack Lemmon. Is there any relation?
Fred and Martha Jungclaus, Martinsville, Ind.
No, but that's not the first time the star has been likened to a famous actor. DeKay has heard he looks like everyone from Harrison Ford to a "rougher" Jimmy Stewart. "I'll take all those!" says DeKay, 46, who lives in Toluca Lake, Calif., with his wife and two children. Instead of idolizing matinee heroes when he was young, the Ithaca, N.Y., native was captured by screen moments. "There are moments in movies that even as a kid I thought, "Oh, I'd love to do that moment' as opposed to 'I'd love to be him.' "
