How to help baby birds

If you find a baby bird that has fallen out of its nest, return it only if you can do so safely, says the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. But in general, it's best to leave young wildlife alone. A young bird out of its nest actually may be learning to fly and won't stay put after you return it.
