Who's News: Jackson Rathbone, Mehki Phifer and more!

Twilight movie fans know Jackson Rathbone has some bite as the vampire Jasper in Eclipse, now in theaters, but in this weekend's The Last Airbender, he plays a young warrior on a mission to save the world. For that role, he spent a few months in Philadelphia with director M. Night Shyamalan rehearsing and learning martial arts. "If you want to beat me up, go for the legs," says Rathbone, 25. "I'm pretty quick and fast with the upper body, but my kicks are terrible."

Fox's Lie to Me (Mondays, 8 p.m.) is all about determining whether people are lying. So what would star Mehki Phifer do when faced with a real-life truth-or-lie decision? "I think I show street smarts and common sense when it comes to either telling a lie or figuring out if someone is lying to me," he says. "But I try to make it a habit not to lie." And if a girlfriend should ask how she looks? Phifer, 35, would be brutally honest: "I'd tell her. "You know what? Change that dress.' "

Tatum, 30, is not only an actor but also a skilled dancer who got his big break in the 2006 dance flick Step Up. Two Los Angeles designers are the primary sources for the jewelry worn by Emily Deschanel's character, Dr. Temperance "Bones" Brennan, on the crime drama, Bones costume designer Cynthia Summers tells us. Most of the jewelry is from Aklia Chinn of Aklia (aklias.com) and Kate Lindsay of Kate Lindsay Jewelry (katelindsay.com). Duff, 22, is hard at work on her first fantasy novel, Elixir, due for release this fall. For 2012, she's also writing a book for kids about coping with divorce. "It's such a process, but I'm having a lot of fun with it," she tells us via e-mail. When she's not working, the actress/singer spends time with her hockey player fiancé, Mike Comrie, and relaxing after a busy 2009. "So much of my touring around the world was scheduled so tight, so I didn't get much time to see all of the interesting spots and didn't get a chance to relax," she says. "I am trying to take in a few books."
