Japanese actor Ken Watanabe plays a powerful business magnate - labeled as "the tourist" - in the mystery drama Inception, in theaters Friday. The actor, 50, is a pro at traveling (he splits his time between the USA and Japan), but he had an unpleasant experience flying to Morocco for Inception last year when an airline lost his luggage. "I had to wash my pants and T-shirt every day," he says. "It got expensive!"
As a member of the wedding party, Raven-Symoné has no control over details, such as her attire, in the ABC Family movie Revenge of the Bridesmaids (premiering Sunday night at 8 ET/PT), but in real life, she says, the experience has led her to make plans for her own big day. "I've planned it out to the T," says the actress, 24. "I've already got the dress in my head. (The wedding) is going to be so untraditional that people are going to be like, 'Raven-Symonés absolutely flipped on her head.' " As for when that big day might occur- and with whom - "that's personal."
Tell me more about the Food Network's Sandra Lee. What's her background?
Fred Brock, Montgomery, Ala.
It turns out Lee didn't always have things so good. "I did face challenges as a child," Lee tells us. "That's how I learned how to turn budget-friendly foods into delicious meals for my family while stretching every dollar and every minute. It's also why I work with organizations like Share Our Strength - it's important to give back." The host of Food Network's Semi- Homemade Cooking and Sandra's Money Saving Meals will release her most comprehensive cookbook, with 1,001 recipes, on Sept. 27.
Where has Good Morning America's Kate Snow gone?
Sid and Pat Rigdon, Louisville
After nearly six years on the early shift at ABC, Snow has jumped to NBC - and a regular Monday-Friday routine - as a Dateline correspondent. The "family/lifestyle thing" (she's mom to Zack, 7, and Abby, 4) was part of the reason for the switch, but Snow, 41, also tells us she "could see more opportunity ahead" at the Peacock Network. Telling stories over one to two hours vs. one to two minutes - "it's a whole set of skills and muscles I used less before." Plus, "I think I had a sleep deficit running back 10 years."
What can you tell me about Dr. Phil's marriages?
Margaret Stahl, Fremont, Neb.
Colorful TV therapist Phil McGraw said "I do" to wife Robin in 1976. Their first
child, Jay, was born in 1979; their second son, Jordan, came in 1986. Robin says she's first and foremost Dr. Phil's wife but also makes appearances on his show. Plus, she has written Christmas In My Home and Heart and What's Age Got To Do With It? and serves on the board of the non-profit Dr. Phil Foundation. McGraw's first marriage, to high school sweetheart Debbie Higgins McCall, was from 1970 to 1973.
What became of the double-amputee veteran in the movie The Best Years of Our Lives?
C.H. Clark, Greeley, Colo.
You're thinking of Harold Russell, the Army veteran who in 1947 won the best-supporting- actor Oscar for the film, plus an honorary Oscar "for bringing hope and courage to his fellow veterans." Russell, who enlisted the day after Pearl Harbor, lost his hands in a training accident in 1944. He went on to become a businessman and an advocate for rights for the disabled, and he wrote two memoirs. He died in 2002 at age 88.
