Her zany, single Phoebe of Friends fame is so, like, analog. Today, Lisa Kudrow, 48(!), is a married mom of a teenager and starring in a hip new series, Web Therapy (Tuesdays on Showtime, 11 p.m. ET/PT).
The actress, who first co-created the improvised show for the Web, stars as Fiona Wallace, a less-than-empathetic therapist who relies on short webcam chats with clients to get to the heart of the problem.
We recently chat with the actress — by phone:
On her own therapy:
“People are asking ‘how many horrible [therapy] sessions have you had?’” Kudrow says of her portrayal of Wallace. Turns out Kudrow hasn’t had any awful therapists. “I was dismissed by my therapist” after going in her 20s.
On her son, Julian:
“To be honest, I don’t think he’s a fan of my work,” she says. “He’s a 13-year-old boy. He hasn’t really seen Friends much. He gets everyone’s name wrong.”
Wacky like Phoebe?
“No. She helped lighten me up a lot. She’s not judgmental. It changed me for the better.”
