While her day job is playing straight-talking resident nurse Christina Hawthorne on TNT’s Hawthorne, Jada Pinkett Smith, 39, is even busier as Chief Organizer Officer of the Smith-acting clan alongside husband Will Smith. Her talented children (Willow, 10, and Jaden, 13, along with stepson Trey) are beginning to spread their career wings under their careful guidance.

“My life is just so full on,” she says. We caught up with Pinkett Smith outside her monster-size trailer on the show’s set as she checked in on her “boo-boo” Willow.

Parenting philosophy:

"I try to create a situation where they are empowered. Some people are like ‘you're a child, stay in your place.’ My feeling is, ‘you're a child this is the best time to fly.’”

Master organizer:

"I’m the glue that keeps it all together. My day-to-day is making decisions to keep life above water. I have a big electronic screen in my kitchen that has everyone’s schedule on it. So I know where everyone is at any time. You make sure everything is moving on its proper course."

A-list company:

"[Co-star Marc Anthony’s] trailer is right there. That's the Anthony/Jennifer Lopez trailer! We're neighbors. He's so much fun. Jen comes and hangs out on the set. She has a lot of dope insight as well."

Will's Men in Black III trailer:

"It’s the same size as this one. [The recent controversy over it] is funny. He's had that trailer in New York for his last three movies."

Family hobbies:

Willow’s favorite place to shop? Target and Staples. "She loves going to Staples because she loves to write. She buys all kinds of gel pens and notebooks. She's like me, I have 500 journals. In her room, she has rows and rows." For Jaden, it’s Gamestop.
