Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Denzel Washington. Paula Patton will have starred opposite all of them as of Friday, when Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol opens in IMAX (and nationwide next Wednesday). She plays a key operative in Cruise’s fourth Mission.
We asked Patton, 36, who has a baby, Julian, 20 months, with singer husband Robin Thicke, about love — on- and off-screen.
How did you get the role?
“I [wore] tight black jeans and high-heeled black boots. ‘Sexy assassin’ was what I was going for.”
Is there time for romance in Ghost Protocol?
“Tom and I kiss, although it’s hard to say what that means.”
Was Robin jealous?
“It’s never nice to see the person you love kiss somebody else. But we have an intense passion for each other.”
And what is your mission impossible?
“I hope no mission is impossible. Being a parent empowers you. You just [can’t] give up.”
