Spruce up your home for spring

Seasonal cleaning doesn’t have to be an expensive ordeal with these tips from Matthew Robbins, creative director of Matthew Robbins Design and blogger for Stylelist.com:

Polish old treasures. Some of those outdated items attracting cobwebs in your garage can make vibrant statements in your home. “Start looking for things you could update with a coat of glossy paint,” Robbins says. Items like mismatched candlesticks can be painted a bold color and put on a mantel.

Add greenery. Whether it be a subtle fern or vibrant sunflowers, plants transform any room.

Don’t forget outdoor space. Create an inviting venue by highlighting favorite shrubs or plants with lighting, Robbins suggests.

Donate. It’s a great way to declutter, Robbins says. “If you haven’t used it in the last year, you probably won’t use it this year either.”
