Angie Harmon is a busy woman. She stars in TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles (season three premieres on Tuesday, June 5 at 9 p.m. ET) and is mom to three.
Harmon, 39, and husband Jason Sehorn, 41, ex-NFL New York Giants player, raise Finley Faith, 8, Avery Grace, 6, and Emery Hope, 3, in North Carolina. “They’re very kind-hearted girls, very tender-hearted,” Harmon says. “They have [a] great sense of humor, that’s always a really wonderful thing.”

Daughters’ favorite bedtime story: The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo. “They love it and I love it. I’m going to admit, I’ll tease them with very short little chapters. We’ll get to the end of the chapter and I’ll be like, ‘And’ and then I start to close the book and they’re like, “What? No.’”
Way to spend a Saturday: “Just with my girls, with my husband leisurely," Harmon says. "I rush and rush and rush all week long, whether I’m working or not; I’m rushing to the set, to another set, to get home, through [my] shower." So when she can, Harmon takes the weekend at a "leisurely pace. We’ll go for a walk to the park, go for a bike ride. We’ll hang out in the house, if it’s a rainy day, we’ll watch a movie.”
Why Texas? The Dallas native refused to let her daughters be born in any place other than Texas. “There’s just no BS and you don’t find that anywhere else. That’s how I was raised and that’s how I am.”
Can’t-live-without beauty product: Clinique mascara. “ The new one: A white tube with [a] silver lid, it’s a wand not a brush, genius, amazing.” She wears it in black.”
Favorite Law & Order cop: “That’s like asking me which one of my kids is my favorite,” says Harmon, who starred as Assistant District Attorney Abbie Carmichael (1998-2001). “I loved them all. I learned from each of them so I can’t single one out."
Playing a cop: “I always win.”
Alternative career: A Homicide detective. “I did a lot of research for Jane [Rizzoli], going to Boston, to crime scenes and being there amongst the blood and the gore and the death. I like puzzles, in general, there’s always one on the dining room table. That just seems to me the ultimate puzzle with the highest stake possible.”
Must-have gadget: iPhone. “It was always BlackBerry/iPhone war in my house,” Harmon says. “I was always BlackBerry, BlackBerry, BlackBerry and then I discovered the iPhone and now it’s a full-blown addiction, that I completely embrace, celebrate and admit. It’s heaven. I’ll give this one to The Horn [her husband’s nickname]. He was right.”
Must-have in fridge: Snow peas: “My kids love em, I love ‘em,” she says. “They’re a great snack, love the crisp bite." She adds, "you can put them in salads, dip them in hummus. If I get home late and don’t have time to eat, I’ll eat a handful of those and [then] I’m not going to bed starving. More important, they’re healthy and nutritious, I don’t feel like I’m eating [an] empty calorie snack.”
