Compare and save. Comparison websites are a convenient and powerful way to find the best prices across multiple stores. Sites like, or will compare products -- such as "Samsung Audio Dock" -- and list prices across competing retailers (in some cases, even factoring in shipping costs).

Pick a favorite retailer. Try to do most of your holiday shopping from one retailer. Products will be sent out at the same time and you likely wonít have to pay for shipping if you purchase over a certain dollar amount.

Use coupon codes. Take advantage of websites that offer coupons, promo codes and other discounts. has relationships with online retailers -- from Kohlís and Fisher Price to Amazon and Walgreens -- and offers a percentage off select items or even free shipping. Sites like and provide online and printable in-store coupons. And group coupon sites and apps like Groupon and LivingSocial serve up limited deals on items ($15 eBay gift cards for $7) and experiences (a cooking class).

Shop secure sites. Use a secure Internet connection when making a purchase. Reputable websites use technologies such as SSL (Secure Socket Layer) that encrypt data during transmission. (You will often see a padlock icon on your browser and/or the letters "https" at the front of the address bar.) And avoid shopping on a shared public computer in an airport lounge or on your own laptop in a Wi-Fi hotspot at a coffee shop. Why? You never know if your information is being tracked and logged.
