Winter Wake-Up (free). This alarm clock app wakes you earlier if it snowed the night before, so you can adjust your morning for delays. If the weather outside is truly frightful, you can check “Don’t bother to wake me if the weather’s too bad. I’ll work on Saturday.”

sNOw School ($0.99). Recall the days of listening to the radio to find out whether school has been canceled? Now there’s an app for that. Using live weather forecasts and historic data, sNOw School predicts snow days for public schools, private schools and colleges in more than a dozen states.
