Not many 23-year-old men are eager to settle down, but British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson is thrilled to come home to his wife, director Sam Taylor-Johnson, 46, and their daughters, Wylda Rae, 3, and Romy, 1. “I need them in my life,” he says. The couple met when she directed him in the 2009 John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy.

Taylor-Johnson who added his wife’s name, “Taylor,” to his name after the wedding, started acting when he was six and made his first film when he was 10. “I left school at 15 and went from job to job, living out of suitcases for a couple of years,” he says about his unsettled lifestyle. “I learned to have a voice. “Now I meet people who are older than me chronologically but they’re actually younger. When you’re ready (to settle down), you’re ready. I fell in love and wanted babies, and I’ve got two beautiful girls. I need them in my life. Now I have a life. It’s worth waking up in the morning. “I’m very happy. My wife and kids ground me. They’re my stability. To me, that’s the most important thing.”

Taylor-Johnson, is now filming Godzilla, due for release next year. Before that, though, he plays the title character in Kick-Ass 2, opening Aug. 16. “I love being Kick-Ass,” he says of the teenage crime-fighting superhero. “He’s funny and spotty.”
