Sugar shows up everywhere these days, even in children’s medicine and vitamins. To cut down on the sugar but still satisfy your cravings, chef Mareya Ibrahim from the television series Recipe Rehab recommends using a product such as Stevia.
“It’s a natural sweetener from a plant and is calorie free, with about 10 times the sweetness of sugar, so a little goes a long way,” she says. Plus, it helps to naturally balance blood sugar, which is key in maintaining a healthy weight. You can bake with it, add it to beverages — basically any way you would use sugar.
