For reader Honora Laverick of Aiken, S.C., dyed eggs are not just for Easter.

“I like to keep hard-boiled eggs in the refrigerator for salads, snacks, lunches — whatever,” she says. “The family sometimes gets cooked and uncooked eggs mixed up with interesting results.” To remedy this, she adds a few drops of food coloring to the cooking water with a tablespoon of vinegar. “Colored eggs = no mistakes!” she says. Laverick changes the color on each batch so she knows which eggs to eat first. What an eggs-cellent idea!
