Art Department Interns at USA WEEKEND Magazine

USA WEEKEND, the nation's second-largest-circulation magazine, is looking for interns for Summer 2008. We are located in the new Gannett/USA TODAY headquarters in Tyson's Corner, behind Tyson's II at 7950 Jones Branch Drive, McLean.
-- Must be able to work regular office hours a minimum of 2 days a week. -- Internship is unpaid, so you must be receiving academic credit. A travel stipend is provided. -- Macintosh experience necessary. -- Knowledge of Photoshop, Quark and Adobe Illustrator and knowledge/ability to do research on the Internet is expected.
What you can expect to learn:
-- Chance to work on a publication read by 50 million. -- Sizing art for reproduction. -- Conceptual brainstorming and searching for illustrators for articles. -- Chance to meet visiting artists to view their portfolios. -- Chance to become familiar with new technology, such as QPS and on-line service. -- Potential to work closely with on-line projects when needed. -- Work with challenging design elements: logos, calls for entry, charts, graphs, promotional ads and other materials.
