Sweepstakes is open to U.S. residents (excluding Puerto Rico) in grades 6-12. Online entrants must be 13 or older. Employees of Gannett Co. Inc., Gruner + Jahr USA Publishing and Youthnoise.com (together, "Sponsors"), their affiliated companies and employees' family members are ineligible. To enter: (1) Answer survey questions and mail completed survey to address above, and you will automatically be entered; (2) print your name, address and phone number on a 3-by-5-inch postcard and mail to address above; or (3) log on to usaweekend.com (click on CLASSROOM) and complete entry form. Only one entry per person. Online entries will be deemed to have been submitted by the student whose name appears on the online entry form, and by registering you agree to submit only your own name and information. Any disputes regarding the identity of an entrant or the number of entries submitted will be determined by Sponsors in their sole discretion. Sponsors are not responsible for incomplete, illegible, late, lost, misdirected or postage-due mail, or for failure to receive entries due to transmission or technical failures of any kind, including malfunctioning of any network, hardware or software, whether originating with Sponsors or sender. Entries become the property of USA WEEKEND; none will be returned. Sweepstakes begins 10/4/02, and all entries (online or offline) must be received by 11:59 p.m. EST on 12/13/02. Odds of winning depend on number of eligible entries received. Three winners will be chosen at random from among all eligible entries on or about 2/14/03. Sweepstakes may be presented in other media, and the odds of winning may depend on number of eligible participants who enter through such multiple presentations.

Prizes: 1st: One student will win a special concert package consisting of three (3) tickets to a concert within 100 miles of the winner's residence or in a major city closest to winner's home; transportation to and from the concert (to be determined by Sponsors on the basis of winner's location; travel by winner and guests must be to and from same point of origin), $250 cash for dinner and spending money (ARV: $2,000). Concert and transportation to be determined by Sponsors. Prize must be completed by 5/9/03. Travel by winner and guests must be to and from same location. Winner or guests under 18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian.

2nd: One student will be invited and win transportation to USA WEEKEND's McLean, Va., offices to help edit a special report on the survey results (ARV: $900).

3rd: One student will receive a Nintendo Gamecube with two games, Metroid Prime and the new version of Star Fox Adventures. (ARV: $350).

Travel prizes subject to availability and blackout dates, and certain other restrictions may apply. All costs and expenses not expressly listed as part of prize awards, including, but not limited to, meals, ground transportation, accommodations and taxes, are the winners' sole responsibility. Return of prize notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification, and an alternate winner may be selected. Winners may waive right to receive prizes. Prizes are non-assignable and non-transferable. No substitutions allowed, except that prizes or individual components of prize packages are subject to availability, and Sponsors reserve the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value. Taxes on prizes are the winners' sole responsibility. Neither Sponsors, nor their parent, subsidiary or affiliate companies, nor their promotional agencies shall have any obligation or liability with regard to damages or losses of any kind caused by any prize or resulting from acceptance, possession or use of any prize, and entrants hereby release them from any such obligation or liability.

Sponsors, in their sole discretion, reserve the right to disqualify any person tampering with the Sweepstakes or the Web site or otherwise violating these rules. Sponsors reserve the right to cancel, terminate or modify this Sweepstakes if it cannot be completed as planned because of tampering, unauthorized intervention or technical failures of any sort.

Winners will be contacted by phone on or about 3/3/03. For a list of winners, go to usaweekend.com after 3/28/03. By entering, entrants agree to be bound by these rules and the decisions of the judges, which are final. Prizes won by minors will be awarded to parent or legal guardian, who must sign any affidavit or release required by Sponsors. Except where prohibited, participation constitutes entrant's consent to the publication of his or her name and image in any media for any commercial or promotional purpose, without limitation or further compensation. A sampling of surveys will go to local newspapers for reporting purposes.
