USA WEEKEND and the Entertainment Industry Foundation have joined forces to inspire service on Make A Difference Day and through EIF's I Participate program.

AARP's Create The Good will recognize Make a Difference Day projects that help older people stay in their homes. Two efforts will be chosen to receive a $5,000 donation to the charity of their choice.

  Disney FamilyFun magazine wants to encourage and recognize families who volunteer on Make A Difference Day. One family project will be chosen to receive a $2,500 award that will be given to their charity of choice.

WE tv is the official cable partner for USA WEEKEND's Make A Difference Day 2009. Starting Oct. 1, watch for messages about Make A Difference Day on We tv and at WEVolunteer.tv.

Read about projects large and small across the nation On 2008's Make A Difference Day, this past Oct. 25, the nation's largest single day of volunteerism, more than 3 million people turned out to perform thousands of charitable acts for others.

To continue the good begun this day, Make A Difference Day volunteers are eligible to receive $100,000 in charitable awards donated by Newman's Own.

Make A Difference Day, the largest national day of helping others, is sponsored by USA WEEKEND Magazine and its 600 carrier newspapers. Make A Difference Day is held in partnership with Hands On Network and is supported by the Newman's Own, which will provides $10,000 donations to charities selected by of each of 10 national honorees. The 19th Make A Difference Day is Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009.
