Habitat for Humanity nails volunteering
On Make A Difference Day 2001, Donald Kelly worked with the Flint River Habitat for Humanity in Albany, Ga., to build a home for himself and his two young children.
Three years later, tragedy struck: A fire consumed the family's little house.
In Hurricane Katrina's wake, Habitat started Operation Home Delivery.

For Make A Difference Day 2005, Habitat again will aid the Kelly family. On Oct. 22, as millions across the nation volunteer to help others, nearly 150 volunteers will rebuild the home.
"We are so excited about this build," says Stacey Odom-Driggers, executive director of Flint River Habitat. "I'm looking forward to helping the family get their lives back together."
Make A Difference Day "drives volunteers to our work sites," says Duane Bates, a national spokesman for 1,700 affiliates of Habitat (visit habitat.org). "It's a great opportunity for us."
In Hurricane Katrina's wake, Habitat started Operation Home Delivery, in which volunteers build house frames, fit them together to ensure a good fit, break them down and pack them for shipping to the Gulf Coast.
