15% said apple pie.
40% said pumpkin pie.
9% said chocolate pie.

Preparing a Thanksgiving meal may not be as easy as pie, but we've gathered some Web help for finding just the recipe and tips you need (below). For those traditionalists who voted for pumpkin pie, anticipate with Grandpa Tucker's little ode. Pecan pie lovers, take pride in the knowledge that the largest pie as recorded by the Guinness Book of World Records was a pecan pie measuring 40 feet in diameter and weighing 40,266 pounds -- it was baked in Oklahoma on June 16, 1989. So you think you can use yams in your sweet potato pie? Let this North Carolina horticulturalist tell you the difference between the sweet potato and yam.

Its gotta be sweet potatoe. Nothing else can compare. I may be from the North, but believe you me when those southerners do up a sweet potatoe pie, you'll never want for apple, cherry, or anything else.

John Cardin (Hudson, NH)

Of all my favorites, nothing beats a big slice of Cherry with real vanilla ice cream. Since it's my sister's house we go to I'll have to settle for her homemade chocolate cream pie which has to be kept hidden to keep those "sneak" bites before dinner away.

Chris (Denver)

I pesonally think apple pie because it has good flavor espacially after turkey. Anyways all other pies suck! Ha-ha-ha-ha.

PEGGY HARTER (SPRING LAKE MI.)

WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE PUMPKIN PIE IS THE ONE. THE FRAGRENT AROMA THAT ARISES FROM THE OVEN AND ENVELOPES THE SENSES WITH WARM MEMORIES OF DINNERS PAST AND PLEASENT FAMILY TIMES, MAKES PUMPKIN PIE THE PERENNIAL FAVORITE OF EVERYONE WHO CELEBRATES THANKSGIVING WITH WARM HEARTS AND LOVING SMILES EACH AND EVERY YEAR. HOPE YOURS IS A SPLENDID AS MINE.

Irene (Horseheads, NY)

I personally want a piece of pumpkin and apple and mincemeat with ice cream of course.

mike (corpus christi)

J Brousseau (Coventry, RI.)

There is nothing like homemade apple pie, just walking into a house, the smell of fresh, warm smelling apple pie It just doesn't get any better than that on a holiday

Larn Ranskil (Kernville)

There is no pie like apple, fresh from the oven. Lightly browned, slightly glazed. As the knife cuts through the flaky crust, the smell of apples, crust, and cooked sugar wafts up to your expectant nostrils. Yes indeed no Holiday is complete with out the taste of hot apple pie. Its ok to add a slice of cheese or if you're feeling racy, to plop down some vanilla ice cream. Yum!! Larn

lorrie (boulder city, NV)

Pumpkin pie with pecans is our favorite for the Thanksgiving dinner-L like to add dark brown sugar and a bit of molasses to the pumpkin filling. Of course, we must have whipped cream on the pie too.

Doug (Salinas, CA)

Pumpkin Pie because it is the only time of year I have it. Things always taste great if you haven't had them in a long time!

Nancy (Milton, FL)

Mincemeat pie was a fimily tradition. This time of year the only time we had it.

Heidi (Scottsdale, Arizona)

Well, nothing beats chocolate. Chocolate pie, chocolate cake, double chocolate brownies. I do love pecan pie though. What is to die for is my mom's stuffing. No, it is not chocolate, but it gives you the satisfaction of chocolate. How can that be? I'm not sure. I think I ate too much chocolate.

Jerome P. Jurgens (Kadena AB Okinawa Japan)

Eating Leftovers seems to be the best. But there's nothing better than a Coconut Creme Pie.

Barbara Behrends (Fair Oaks California)

My family enjoys jello pumpkin pie recipie. It's cream cheese mixed with cool whip on the bottom and pumpkin pie mixed with vanilla pudding on top. It rocks!! There would be a lot of grief coming my way if I tried anything else!

Ron (Rock Springs, WY)

When I think of Thanksgiving, back in my past, I remember smelling the cooking pumpkin pies, the turkey, the dressing, the rolls; and, I almost hear my mother quietly humming as she prepared the most lucious meals imaginable. Thanksgiving would not be the same if it were not for pumpkin pies, which are often made from squash, not pumpkin.

Phil (West Bath, Maine)

There's nothing like sttling into a cumfy chair with a hot coffee and a warm slice of apple pie.

A. FLORES (SHREVEPORT, LA.)

I love them all, but my "most favorite" is lemon ice box and key lime pie, good 365 days a year. Pecan would have to be second. But, now that I am type two diabetic these are only wonderful memories.

Ed (Cranston, Rhode Island)

Home-made Apple Pie is IT for Thanksgiving around our home, but Squash is a really close second!! What I remember most about Thanksgiving is everyone gathered around the dinner table and a large bowl of fresh fruit and nuts in the middle of the table.

Tiffany (Heaven)

I LOVE Mac. Nut Cream Pie!!!! Yum, Yum!

Kevin (Russellville, AR)

Must be totally nothing else for me to do.... PUMPKIN PUMPKIN PUMPKIN

LeeAnn (San Antonio, Texas)

My family goes thru 2 pumpkin pies on Thanksgiving day, one for breakfast & one for desert after the turkey. The other pies we have are Mincemeat (yes, it has meat & brandy!!!), Pecan, then Cherry or Apple tied for 4th.

SHaron Malinowski (Satellite Beach, FL)

The only kind of pie that is even worth putting in your mouth is cherry pie. It is the symbol of a well-rounded taste bud. And it's a classic as well. Who the heck likes pecans or mince anyway?

Becky (Sayre)

I think Pumpkin Pie is the only kind of pie for Thanksgiving.

Marge (Avon Park, FL)

Although I love squash (not pumpkin) pie I had to vote for mince because I remembered my grandmother's mince pie. She was Mass. Yankee of English descent and the recipe was handed down I don't know how many generations. My most vivid memory of Thanksgiving is of walking home from her house on a starry cold night with the packed snow crunching beneath our feet.

Teresa Ransdell (Farmington Hills MI)

I'm originally from the South and the best pie for Thanksgiving is Chess or Lemon Chess.

Kim (Deerfield NH)

We'll be spending Thanksgiving Day in MA. We share the preparations. My best memory (I guess) is that the children under twelve share the kitchen table/adult in diningroom. I have a fond memory or when my nephew said "it was a right of passage" to be advanced to the dining room table. For me, it's a "right of passage" to have the celebration at an adult offspring's home. We'll check out Plimouth Plantation and relative Stephen. Hopkins the next day. Happy holidays!!

DIANNE CHUTE (SAUSALITO, CALIFORNIA)

I USED TO THINK PUMPKIN PIE WAS THE BEST PIE AT THANKSGIVING, UNTIL I TASTED SWEET POTATO PIE... IT IS TO DIE FOR. THE RECIPE I USE IS FROM TALK SHOW HOST JIM EASOM. HE'S FROM NORTH CAROLINA, AND HE USED TO GIVE THE RECIPE AT THANKSGIVING TIME.

Paul (Athens)

Personally I like a good Cheese cake but I'm not sure if it quailifies for being a pie. So if I can't have my Cheese cake and eat it too, then I'll settle for a pecan pie.

Beth Ann Valek (Charleston, IL)

Actually, the only pie I really like is a Boston Creme, but chocolate comes closest.

Patty Swift (delaware, Ohio)

I totally am addicted to apple pie, so it wouldn't be Thanksgiving without it.

Joyce (Chattanooga)

Blueberry is great!!

Ceasbo (Manassas, VA (God's Country))

Apple pie is as American as it gets...there's nothing like a Stouffer's chicken pot pie on a cold Thanksgiving day...Would you like fries with that turkey?...Whats the deal with Michael Jackson? He's the king of POP alright. He's a pop twice over now...Why do they call it mincemeat? Its not meat. It's not minced...Mmm, pork chops taste gooood. Bacon tastes gooood...
